The nomination and application dates for the selection of the next class of U.S.-Japan Media Fellows has not be set. Please check back next year.

Journalists covering these areas are particularly suited for the Fellowship:
  • Arts and culture, including reviewers and commentators on visual and performing arts film, design, and literature;
  • Business, particularly start-ups;
  • Social entrepreneurship;
  • Innovation, including the next-generation movers and shakers;
  • Science and technology;
  • Social policy, community development, welfare and aging issues.

Qualifications

To be considered for the fellowship, applicants must:
  1. be an American citizen who is roughly between the ages of 30 and 45;
  2. be seasoned professionals who have a history of high achievement in their careers;
  3. show promise of future distinction and impact in their fields;
  4. be self-starters who, with the help of the Japan Society and co-hosting institution, will actively seek contacts and interviewees during the Fellowship residency period.
