Please join us for an all day celebration in honor of Japan Society’s 110th Anniversary!
 
Starting at 12 PM, we will be offering all free admission to our gallery exhibition, A Third Gender: Beautiful Youths in Japanese Prints.
 
Throughout the event, a variety of merchants will be selling goods and sampling treats, including:

  • Bokksu, a premium Japanese snack subscription service and seller
  • Wuhao, designer of exquisite, traditional tenugui textiles and Japanese gifts
  • Ito En, a leader in innovative, natural tea beverages and products
  • BentOn, a NYC café and caterer serving healthy Japanese fast food (evening only)

*A portion of the proceeds from all merchant and food sales will be donated back to Japan Society.

Visit our Japan Society table for one-day only Membership offers, along with a special drawing featuring prizes from TOTO and more.
 
After 6 PM, mix and mingle with other arts enthusiasts at our signature Escape East @ 333 Gallery Happy Hour!  Sip on complimentary premium sake provided by Sake Suki, while enjoying the smooth sounds of Japanese traditional/jazz fusion duet, KAI.

About KAI / Zac Zinger:  Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, lead musician and founder Zac Zinger has been writing and playing music for over seventeen years. Now based in New York City, he is a 2011 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Berklee College of Music with degrees in Jazz Composition and Film Scoring, and has received numerous awards and grants, including a 2016 Asian Cultural Council Artist Grant; the 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Awards; the 2013 ASCAP Johnny Mandel Prize, etc. A multi-talented performer, Zac plays saxophones, flute, clarinet, shakuhachi, and EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument). He has had the pleasure of performing in eleven countries with the likes of Anat Cohen, Kirill Gerstein, Mario Frangoulis, Nobuo Uematsu, and Wataru Hokoyama. He regularly writes and performs with his progressive jazz quartet, the Zac Zinger Group, and his Japanese traditional/jazz fusion duet, KAI.

Spring 2017 Friday Night “Escape East” events are supported by Air Canada.
