Delve into the complexities of representing LGBTQ+ issues in exhibitions with A Third Gender catalogue co-author Dr. Joshua Mostow (University of British Columbia), NY-based curator Dan Cameron and gender-queer artist Kris Grey. This discussion draws attention to case studies spanning Edo Japan to the East Village.

Gallery hours extended to 9 PM this evening; free admission to the exhibition with ticket purchase.

Box Office Policy

Joshua S. Mostow is Professor of Asian Studies at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. He has published extensively on gender and sexuality in Japanese culture and is presently completing a volume tentatively entitled “National Erotics: Japan, Sexuality, Identity.”




Dan Cameron is a New York-based independent curator, art writer and educatior. He was Curator of the 2016 Bienal de Cuenca in Ecuador, which closed February 2017, anf featured 47 artists from 20 countries. As a writer, he has hundreds of publications to his credit, has lectured at museums and art events around the world, and has taught on the MFA faculties of Columbia University, NYU, School of Visual Arts, and as guest faculty at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge; and California State University, Fullerton.

Kris Grey is a New York City based gender-queer artist whose cultural work includes performance making, curatorial projects, writing, arts administration, and studio production. Grey earned a Bachelor of Fine Art from the Maryland Institute College of Art, a Masters Degree in Fine Art from Ohio University, and currently serves as the Deputy Director for Education and Visitor Experience at the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art. .
