Kenji, played by superstar Tadanobu Asano, swears revenge when he unexpectedly finds his mother, who had abandoned him as a child, now living with a new husband and son. In this sequel to Helpless (1996) and Eureka (2000, winner at Cannes), director Aoyama completes this trilogy with the powerful story of a man who tries to stand against his fate and rejects the blood ties that keep coming back to haunt him.
