Past Event HighlightOpen Rehearsal for Miwa Yanagi’s Zero Hour: Tokyo Rose’s Last Tape
at Japan Society – Thursday, January 29, 2015
This winter, Japan Society inaugurated its Stories from the War series commemorating the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II with the presentation of the North American debut of Miwa Yanagi’s Zero Hour: Tokyo Rose’s Last Tape. We invited our Sustaining ($250) members and above to join us for an open rehearsal and reception with the playwright, director, and internationally renowned visual artist Miwa Yanagi and Artistic Director Yoko Shioya. During the reception, Ms. Yanagi explained the challenges of adapting this media-intensive performance, originally written in Japanese, to an English-speaking audience in different types of theatres for its five-city Japan Society-organized tour. Ms. Shioya expressed her gratitude to all funders who made this project possible, and thanked those who were able to attend the special afternoon.
