New York, NY – Japan Society’s Corporate Program presents Takashi Anzai, President, Seven Bank Ltd., to talk about the challenges of operating Seven Bank, an online bank that operates primarily through a network of ATMs in Seven Eleven convenience stores throughout Japan. The luncheon discussion, Seven Bank: Amidst Turmoil, a Publicly-Traded Success Story in Banking, takes place Wednesday, November 19 at Japan Society. James Reed, President & Chief Executive Officer, Mizuho Securities USA Inc., presides.
Takashi Anzai has been through it all in Japanese banking. He began his career in central banking at the Bank of Japan and later served as president of the then-defunct Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan, and was involved in the government controlled restructuring of LTCB into what is now Shinsei Bank. At Seven & I Group he established and operated a completely new type of banking business operating on a network of ATMs in Japan's largest convenience store chain. After 5 years, the business erased initial cumulative losses, and in this, its seventh year, Seven Bank’s shares successfully listed on JASDAQ.
