Krazy Sweepstakes Rules

1. NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. No one is ever required to pay a fee or make a purchase to enter or claim any of the prizes awarded.
2. The Sweepstakes will run according to the monthly entry schedule below. One winner will be selected for each month among all eligible entries for that month. Non-winning entries for one month will automatically be included in subsequent months. The Sweepstakes monthly entry schedule is as follows:
   
   October: Starts at 12:00:00 AM EST on 10/01/08 and ends at 11:59:59 PM EST on 10/31/08
   November: Starts at 12:00:00 AM EST on 11/01/08 and ends at 11:59:59 PM EST on 11/31/08
   December: Starts at 12:00:00 AM EST on 12/01/08 and ends at 11:59:59 PM
   EST on 12/31/08
   January: Starts at 12:00:00 AM EST on 01/01/08 and ends at 11:59:59 PM
   EST on 01/31/08
   February: Starts at 12:00:00 AM EST on 02/01/08 and ends at 11:59:59 PM
   EST on 02/31/08
   March: Starts at 12:00:00 AM EST on 03/01/08 and ends at 11:59:59 PM
   EST on 03/31/08
   April: Starts at 12:00:00 AM EST on 04/01/08 and ends at 11:59:59 PM
   EST on 04/31/08
   May: Starts at 12:00:00 AM EST on 05/01/08 and ends at 11:59:59 PM

3. On or about each of the following dates, one (1) potential winner will be randomly selected in a random drawing of all entries received: October winner selected on 11/01/08; November winner selected on 12/01/08; December winner selected on 1/03/08; January winner selected on 2/01/08; February winner selected on 3/01/08; March winner selected on 4/01/08; April winner selected on 5/01/08; May winner selected on 6/01/08; All results of the selections are final and binding, subject to Paragraph 12 below.
4. The Sweepstakes is open only to legal residents of the 50 United States of America or the District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older.
5. Prize: Eight (8) winners will receive one a one year membership to Japan Society and one KRAZY! Catalog. Approximate Retail Value: $94.95; total Approximate Retail Value of all prizes offered: $759.60. Prizes cannot be redeemed for cash and may not be substituted or transferred by the winners.
6. The odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received. However, an earlier entry potentially has better odds than a later entry because the earlier entry will be eligible for more monthly drawings (e.g., an entry in Month 1 has up to eight chances to win while an entry in Month 4 only has up to four chances to win).
7. There are two (2) ways to enter the Sweepstakes: (1) Internet: Complete and submit an entry form for the sweepstakes at www.japansociety.org/krazy; (2) Mail: Legibly handwrite your name, mailing address and valid e-mail address, affix proper postage on the postcard or envelope, and mail it to: Entry, "Krazy! Sweepstakes," 333 East 47th Street, New York, NY 10017. Entry dates, which determine which monthly drawings the entry is eligible to win, shall be determined by the date an entry is actually received by Japan Society. Only one entry per family unit is allowed (a family unit is those persons having the same last name and address), regardless of method of entry.
8. Japan Society is not responsible for telecommunications, network, electronic, technical or computer failures of any kind, including any which may affect your entry or the Sweepstakes. Japan Society is not responsible for lost, stolen, misdirected, mutilated, late or illegible entries. Entries not in compliance with these Official Rules are disqualified. Japan Society shall have the absolute right to determine if an entry is in compliance with these Official Rules without notice to the person attempting to enter.
9. By entering the Sweepstakes, each participant warrants that he or she has read and agrees to abide by these Official Rules and that he or she is not prohibited from participating in the Sweepstakes. Each participant agrees to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless Japan Society and its parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, shareholders, employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives, advertising and promotion agencies and prize suppliers from any liability arising from or related to the Sweepstakes, including, without limitation, personal injury, death, property damage, or claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy.
10. Employees and agents, including their family (parents, children, siblings, spouse) and members of their household (whether or not related), of Japan Society and its subsidiaries, affiliates, parent companies, distributors, divisions, agencies or of any related entity, including any consultants to Japan Society, are not eligible to enter the Sweepstakes.
11. In the event a winning entry is discovered to be invalid for any reason whatsoever or the person who submitted the winning entry fails to comply with these Official Rules prior to delivery of the Prize, the Prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner.
12. If by reason of a printing or other error, more prizes are claimed than the number set forth in these Official Rules, all persons making purportedly valid claims will be included in a random drawing to award the advertised number of prizes available. No more than the advertised number of prizes will be awarded.
13. The winner may be required to sign, notarize and return to Japan Society an Affidavit of Eligibility and a Prize and/or Publicity Release. There is typically a fee of $10.00-$15.00 for the services of a Notary Public. Notaries Public can be found at most bank locations, as well as other locations.
14. Attempts to notify the winner will be made by e-mail within seven (7) days of the drawing. Japan Society is not responsible for lost, stolen, late or misdirected mail or delivery or computer transmission problems of any kind. If unable to make contact with any winner within seven (7) days after Japan Society first attempts to notify the winner, or if any winner fails to claim the Prize within seven (7) days after Japan Society first attempts to notify the winner, the Prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner.
15. To obtain a list of the official winners (after the conclusion of the Sweepstakes), send a self-addressed envelope with the proper postage affixed to: Winners, "Japan Society KRAZY! Sweepstakes," 333 East 47th Street, New York, NY 10017.
16. WINNERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPORTING AND PAYING ANY AND ALL INCOME, SALES OR EXCISE TAXES THAT MAY APPLY; Japan Society IS NOT LIABLE FOR AND WILL NOT PAY ANY SUCH TAXES.
17. By entering the Sweepstakes, participants consent to the use of their name, likeness, image and biographical data for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law. Japan Society ENCOURAGES ALL PARTICIPANTS TO REVIEW ITS PRIVACY POLICY, WHICH CAN BE REVIEWED AT www.japansociety.org/privacy_policy.
18. Japan Society reserves the right to suspend or cancel the Sweepstakes or modify these Official Rules as necessary for any reason or as required by applicable law. Japan Society reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any person it believes to have intentionally violated these Official Rules or tampered with any element of the Sweepstakes without notice to the disqualified person.

All entry information and materials become the property of Japan Society and will not be returned.
