Lawson's Business Strategy and Response to the Quake

Takeshi Niinami, the President and CEO of Lawson, Inc., a major convenience store franchise chain in Japan, reveals how his company is introducing his unique business to growing markets, including his goal of opening nearly 10,000 stores in China by 2020. His company also has played a leading role in ensuring basic necessities got to the people of Japan after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. Meanwhile, Lawson plans to install energy-saving lights in thousands of stores to help with the nation's conservation efforts in the aftermath of the disasters. Mr. Niiinami has been the President and CEO of Lawson since May 2002. Previously he was the President of Sodex Corporation. After Sodex, he led the Food Service Management Unit and Lawson Units at Mitsubishi Corporation.
