Ayumi Takahashi - Regional Coordinator, Fukushima Future Promotion Office, Fukushima University

Ayumi has been at the University of Fukushima since 2008. After the 3.11 disaster, she took part in planning “TsunaPro,” an ETIC project, and undertook assessments of Higashi Matsushima in Miyagi and Aizu Wakamatsu in Fukushima. She helped set up the Fukushima University Disaster Volunteer Center, a student organization, and working with six universities and four technical schools in Fukushima, helped create the “Fukushima Recovery Support Student Network,” to support disaster victims and the disaster zone. In her current position, she created the “Fukushima Future Promotion,” an educational program to revitalize the region from the nuclear disaster through projects such as the “Village University,” where students can spend two weeks in the field in Kawauchi, Minami Soma City, and while interacting with locals, create places for learning, and make opportunities to collaborate with stakeholders.
