Chiemi Kamada - Teacher, high school home economics

Chiemi Kamada was living in Tokyo where she went to university and worked for a start-up IT company. After the earthquake and tsumani, she joined ETIC’s recovery support office and helped to launch the Tsuna Pro project, which matched skilled professionals with businesses and organizations in Tohoku who needed those skills to recover. In November 2011, she started a community organization called “Peach Heart” and moved back to Fukushima in 2012, then began working for the Fukushima Cooperative Reconstruction Center which works as an intermediary organization to help Fukushima residents and the prefecture become self-reliant. The Center supports recovery work by coordinating the resources of the stakeholders (NPO, Government and Corporations), who are engaged in the recovery work. The Center identifies the needs of NPOs doing work all over Fukushima and connects them to corporations and government, which provides resources for recovery including human resources, funding and information. The goal of these coordination activities is to become a hub in Fukushima.
