Daiki Sato - Senior Staff, Ofunato Station Area Development Office, Bureau of Disaster Reconstruction, Ofunato City

Daiki’s work in Ofunato focuses on the business sector and issues related to management, joint system construction, planned community development, and business coordination. After the earthquake and tsunami, Daiki planned and managed the establishment of shelters, working with neighborhood associations, businesses, and other organizations, and supported public baths, including building a cooperative system of supply providers and transit managers at every shelter. He has worked for Ofunato City in a number of positions since he graduated college in 2001, including tax collection. While in tax collection, he analyzed data and worked with his team to raise the collection rate from “lowest ranking” to “number 1” in the prefecture. He is also an active volunteer in his community, and after 3.11, he worked on a large scale music event with friends to spread feelings of thanks and vitality in the disaster region.
