Harue Ishikawa, Founder, Care Center Yawaragi

Harue Ishikawa is the Founder of Care Center Yawaragi, a non-profit organization in Tokyo that offers personalized and extensive home care services for the elderly community. These services foster community outreach and help those within the senior community improve their quality of life. Services include group homes, short-stay services, day services, and home help services. The Center also works with family members to develop care plans and provides in-home beauty services. Care Center Yawaragi also offers instruction courses throughout the year for those who would like to work in the home care field. Prior to founding Care Center Yawaragi, Ishikawa was instrumental in the 1981 campaign to install elevators in the Tachikawa Station and also spent a number of years working for the International Wool Secretariat where she was responsible for trade marking Woolmark products in Japan. Since 2002, she has been teaching a course on “20th Century Social Design” at Rikkyo University’s Graduate School.
