Nobutaka Aozaki

Inspired by mundane and prosaic objects such as plastic bags and cups, New York-based Japanese artist Nobutaka Aozaki transforms disposable items and banal foods into unexpectedly charming works of art. Often incorporating an element of performance, Aozaki’s pieces develop out of everyday interactions with people on the street. His art centers around city life—in his case, New York—and the everyday lifestyle of the metropolis population.
