Forum Held Offsite in Tokyo

Co-organized by ETIC.

10:30 AM–8 PM

“Is it possible for Tohoku to be an innovation lab for solving some of society’s most pressing challenges?" –Haruo Miyagi, Founder, ETIC.

As we approach the 5th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake, speakers will look at what has been achieved in Tohoku and what remains to be done. Tohoku is making great strides toward recovery and reconstruction, and the challenges that existed before 3.11, including depopulation, aging society, dissolution of community, and economic stagnation, are issues regional communities in and outside of Japan also face. At this one day forum, innovators from Tohoku and the United States will share their expertise and insights on solving some of our most pressing social issues.

The day will include keynote panel discussion, keynote speaker, and breakout sessions. Speakers include Phillip Cooley, Co-founder, Ponyride; Rosanne Haggerty, President, Community Solutions; Daiki Iwasa, Representative Director, GRA, Inc.; Yosuke Komatsu, Executive Director, Asueno Kibo Onagawa; Allison Plyer, Executive Director & Chief Demographer, The Data Center; and Takashi Tachibana, Co-founder, Sweet Treat 3.11.

Followed by a reception.
