The Consortium for Japan Relief, in collaboration with Japan Society, is presenting One Year Later: The State of Mental Health in Tohoku, Japan. One of the most significant issues facing Tohoku is the psychological state of the victims of the disaster and the evolving methods of mental health care available to them. Speakers on this important topic include Dr. Mitsuru Suzuki, MD, PhD, Adjunct Professor, Iwate Medical University & Mental Health Advisor, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan, who is on the frontline of the delivery of mental health services in Tohoku, together with experts involved in care for 9.11 victims’ families and survivors, as well as other world renowned scholars, including Gerald L. Curtis, PhD, Burgess Professor of Political Science, Director, Toyota Research Program, Weatherhead East Asian Institute, Columbia University and Member, Board of Directors of Japan Society.
