This is a companion event to SHINSAI: THEATERS FOR JAPAN, the nationwide theatrical fundraising event featuring works donated by such major American and Japanese playwrights as Edward Albee, John Guare, Yoji Sakate, Toshiki Okada, Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman, to be presented at the Great Hall at Cooper Union. The program provides a forum for anyone interested in further raising awareness of the disaster in Japan, or in asking questions of participants from the NYC SHINSAI event at Cooper Union. Japanese and American playwrights and actors Philip Kan Gotanda, John Guare, Naomi Iizuka, Kumiko Shinohara, John Weidman and James Yaegashi will share their responses to the previous day’s proceedings and engage in a conversation about how artists can band together to support Japan. Moderated by Anne Cattaneo from Lincoln Center Theater.

The program will be live streamed at ustream.tv/japansociety, and viewers can ask questions via Twitter.

Followed by a reception.
