Sunday, July 9, 1-4 PM

Make a wish as we explore the Tanabata legend of star-crossed lovers (Hikoboshi and Orihime) through a shadow puppetry performance led by Kanako Hiyama, in an interactive setting with joyful songs. In addition, create your own Milky Way stars, Hikoboshi and Orihime dolls, paper ornaments and a tanzaku, thin paper strips for writing wishes to decorate bamboo branches. Recommended for children ages 3-10 and accompanying adults.

Event Schedule:

  Festival begins. Pre-theater craft making; festival-related food is available for purchase.
2:00   Puppetry Theater Presentation
  Crafts: Tanabata dolls and paper ornaments to decorate bamboo trees (tanzaku)
  Festival ends

Tickets: $15/$8 members; children ages 2 or under free. Space is limited: advance ticket purchase recommended.

This program will be photographed and video-taped. Program content subject to change.
