Industrial Structure Vision: The Way Forward for Japanese Industry

Corporate Breakfast
Tuesday, July 20, 2010 — 9:30 AM

Tadao Yanase, Jonathan Colby.

Amid growing concern over the global competitiveness of Japan’s industries, and the broader problem of years of economic stagnation, METI has just unveiled "Industrial Structure Vision 2010," a roadmap for driving Japan’s revenue and employment and boosting the competitiveness of its businesses. This roadmap calls for four shifts in the public and private sectors to spur growth, including changes in industrial structure, in business models, in the perception that globalization and domestic employment are mutually exclusive and in the role government plays to promote growth. Join METI’s Tadao Yanase for a roundtable discussion of Japan’s strategy for future industrial growth and of the business sectors that will be key to increasing revenue and employment.
