Come explore the fascinating art of manga in this two-session workshop! Educators will learn all about Japanese graphic novels and how to utilize them as powerful teaching tools for today’s youth. In session one, Brian Camp from CUNY will lead educators through the history of manga, introducing them to seminal works and themes as well as Japanese concepts of storytelling through art. Special attention will also be paid to anime, the popular animated cartoon shows that have sprung from manga. In the second session, participants have the rare opportunity to work with acclaimed manga artist/writer, Hiroki Otsuka on creating their own manga.
