This workshop will teach basic Japanese phrases and behavioral skills needed in Japanese corporate environments. Participants will learn practical expressions and manners used in various business contexts, such as formal greeting, business card exchange, seating order, proper bowing, and table manners.

Fundamentals of Kanji Workshops

Learn to Read Hiragana & Katakana Workshops

These mini-workshops offer the beginning student of Japanese the opportunity to quickly and efficiently master the reading of the two Japanese syllabaries, hiragana and katakana. It is these two writing systems, in combination with the more complex kanji (ideograms which represent meaning), which constitute the written Japanese language.

“A/The” Workshop

小さくて発音しやすいのに用法を間違えると意味がだいぶ外れてしまう英語の冠詞ですが、「a」と「the」の難しさの原因は、用法が6つもあるということにあります。ジャパン・ソサエティーが特別に開講する「冠詞ワークショップ」では、日英バイリンガル言語学者のベン先生と一緒に「a」と「the」の用法を全て分かりやすく、徹底的に学習します。English articles can drastically change the meaning of a sentence; “a” and “the” alone have a combined total of six different usages. In this workshop for Japanese native speakers learning English, students will have the opportunity to go over the various usages of both “a” and “the” with English teacher Ben Milam.
