Japan Society’s First Annual Manga Competition

Deadline Extended to May 15, 2010!

In celebration of Utagawa Kuniyoshi’s fundamental contributions to the world of contemporary manga, Japan Society hosts MANGA MADNESS!

Do you love manga and like to draw? Submit your own previously unpublished single-page manga or splash page and have it judged by a world renowned manga master, Hiroki Otsuka, Japan Society’s Mangaka-in-Residence!

Prizes will be awarded for Best Overall entry and for 1st place in two separate categories: A Comic Strip Inspired by Utagawa Kuniyoshi and Doujinshi.

Winners will receive an exhibition catalogue from Graphic Heroes, Magic Monsters: Japanese Prints by Utagawa Kuniyoshi from the Arthur R. Miller Collection.

Best Overall prize winner receives a $75 gift certificate from the Kinokuniya bookstore.  1st place winners receive $50 gift certificates from Kinokuniya.  Winners will also receive a special mystery bonus prize and have their artwork displayed at Japan Society. See competition rules for details.
