Savanna Lyons – Principal, May Day Consulting and Design

Savanna is the Principal at May Day Consulting and Design, where she consults on agricultural education and entrepreneurship, program development and policy advocacy. Savanna’s previous experience includes overseeing operations at two different food hubs, managing agricultural entrepreneurship and workforce development programs for low-income West Virginians, and conducting research on food hub financial management at the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture. In 2010-2013 she served as founding Director of the West Virginia Food & Farm Coalition, a statewide nonprofit that continues to strengthen food systems through farmer support, training, coalition-building and policy change. She helped launch the Value Chain Cluster Initiative, a regional technical assistance program for farm businesses, and has served on the Administrative Council for Northeast SARE (USDA’s Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education program) as well as the Board of Directors of the West Virginia Farmers Market Association, the Call to Action for Racial Equality, and Rise Up West Virginia. She holds a double M.S. in Economics and Sustainable Agriculture from Iowa State University and a B.A. from Harvard University.
