The Allure of Ishikawa: Where Food Meets Art

The 2000-mile-long chain of islands that comprises Japan possesses a unique history and countless cultural traditions, which continue to flourish in the current day. In the Get to Know Japan Series’ inaugural event, Japan Society will introduce the cuisine and cultural treasures of the Ishikawa Prefecture. Positioned on the Sea of Japan’s widely beautiful coastline, the historic Ishikawa Prefecture has enchanted Japanese vacationers since the seventeenth century. Michael Romano, renowned chef and food ambassador of Ishikawa Prefecture, will showcase Ishikawa’s rich food culture. Toshio Ohi, a member of the historic Ohi Pottery family, will discuss his company’s iconic ceramic works as well as the local art of Ishikawa.

Presentation will be followed by a reception with regional sake from multiple brewers and food made from local products.
